Education Coordinator

The ARTx3 Education Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing educational programs and activities that align with the center's mission. This role involves collaborating with staff, educators, volunteers, and community partners to create engaging and enriching experiences for visitors of all ages. SALARY: $35,000-40,000

HOURS: Tuesday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm | Saturday 9:30am - 4:00pm

Program Development:

● Creating education programs suitable for various age groups and experience levels.

● Collaborate with ARTx3 staff and facilitate artists to develop interdisciplinary programs.

● Creating and scheduling workshops and classes to optimize accessibility and participation.

● Work with education and program teams to develop educational activities that are adaptable to the needs and interests of learners from diverse backgrounds and communities.

● Arrange logistical details for all education workshops and classes, including space allocation, equipment procurement, and material preparation.

● Work with curatorial staff to create programming that ties into current exhibitions, as well as ensuring to include any programming with exhibiting artist involvement.

Teaching and Facilitation:

● Ensure facilitators are secured for workshops and classes.

● Create hands-on activities, lesson plans, and resources that engage learners and encourage active participation and exploration.

● Create lesson plans that integrate the arts with relevant subjects such as history, literature, and social studies to be shared on our website.

Outreach and Promotion:

● Collaborate with local educators and artists to enhance program offerings and assist in providing enriching experiences for participants. This includes marketing said programs to schools, community organizations, and the general public.

● Work with the communications to create and implement promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and online content.

● Cultivating relationships with local schools, teachers, and educational networks.

Program Coordination:

● Communicate effectively with participants, parents, teachers, and other community members to provide program information, updates, and support.

● Create and maintain contracts for facilitators, ensuring all information is correct and the facilitators understand their responsibilities while contracted with ARTx3.

● Work with the Programs DIrector to maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and evaluations.

● Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education programs through participant feedback, observation, and assessment tools. Use data to inform program improvements and measure impact on learning outcomes and audience engagement.

Community Engagement:

● Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, community organizations, and educational institutions to promote collaboration and resource sharing.

● Seek out opportunities to expand ARTx3's reach and impact through outreach events, workshops, and partnerships.

● Coordinate and facilitate after school programming with partner organizations, i.e. Boys & Girls Club, Townsend, Pine Bluff Community Center, etc.

● Work with education and programming teams to collaborate on community-based projects and events.

Professional Development:

● Stay informed about current trends and best practices in education.

● Participate in professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences, and training sessions.

● Work with education and programming teams to coordinate Professional Development opportunities to be held on the ARTx3 Campus.

Administration and Budgeting:

● Work with the Programs Director to develop and manage education budgets, including expenses for supplies, equipment, guest instructors, and special events.

● Assist with seeking funding opportunities through grants, sponsorships, and donations to support program sustainability and growth.

● Handling administrative tasks such as program registration, waivers, and scheduling.

Direct Inquiries of: Teacher professional development, student field trips, education programs, outreach opportunities, after-school programming (i.e., B&G, Townsend, etc.) in-school teaching artist residencies, lesson plans Connections: Directly reports to Programs Director and Assistant Director; secondarily reports to Board education committee

Supports: Any education program at all three facilities

Qualifications:

➢ Bachelor's degree in education, arts education or a related field.

➢ 2+ years of experience in program development, curriculum design, or education, preferably in a museum or cultural institution setting.

➢ Deep knowledge of arts discipline, with a demonstrated ability to integrate into educational programming.

➢ Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

➢ Strong leadership abilities, with experience supervising and motivating staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and communities.

➢ Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, with an understanding of the cultural and educational needs of diverse communities.

➢ Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC) is a part of the ARTx3 campus. The ARTx3 Campus is the convergence of art, creativity, and community in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The campus features three facilities: Arts & Science Center, The ARTSpace and ART WORKS on Main. All three facilities present programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) education through exhibitions, performances, classes, and local partnerships. Founded in 1968, ASC is accredited with the American Alliance of Museums and features a permanent art collection focusing on art by African American artists, Arkansas artists, and art of the Delta, three exhibition galleries, an interactive youth activity space, and the 232-seat Catherine M. Bellamy Theater. Since 2021, the modern and multipurpose ARTSpace and ART WORKS facilities have hosted live music, local and regional art, diverse multidisciplinary workshops, and small productions. The ARTx3 campus aims to empower our community through the arts, support the revitalization of Downtown Pine Bluff, bolster the creative economy, and bring positive attention to our city.
