About

This production is in partnership with the John McLinn Ross Players at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

Journey into the heart of rural Georgia in the early 20th century with The Color Purple, a powerful musical based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Follow Celie, a young black woman, as she navigates a world of hardship and abuse, ultimately finding strength, love, and her own voice. With a soul-raising score infused with jazz, gospel, ragtime, and blues, The Color Purple is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love, and a celebration of the human spirit.

Directed by Taijee and co-directed by Michelle Young-Hobbs. Musical direction by Laleata May. Choreography by Daija Black.

This production contains adult themes and adult language. Viewer discretion is advised. Recommended for ages 13 and older.
